Nitobi Photoshoot Comments Off

Captain Ajax

My friend Andre Charland’s (AKA Captain Ajax) company recently underwent a branding change. They’re old name was eBusiness Applications and thier new name is Nitobi. As a part of the renaming and rebranding efforts they wanted new pics of their executive team to corresponding with changing face of the company. Nitobi is an agile, honest, and friendly technology company and that comes through in the shots. Check out the pics on Flickr from the Nitobi photoshoot and this quote from Andre in our corporate photography references section.

“Mr Krug is truly an amazing photographer. He really knows how to capture ones personality in a photograph. I really think it has to do with his rare blend of creativity, technical photographic skills and his easy going friendly demeanor. I would hire Kris again in a heart beat!”
-Andre Charland: Nitobi

Raincity Studios Photoshoot Comments Off

The Raincity Crew

Raincity Studios is an awesome web design and development firm here in Vancouver that I’ve had the pleasure of working with over the past couple years.

They’re a team of Drupal and Ruby On Rails ‘rockstars’ as they like to say and wanted street-style edgy photos that represented they’re attitudes and projects.

We took these shots in the alleyways within a few blocks of their office. Check out the rest of the pics over at Flickr. Thanks for a fun shoot guys and I look forward to doing it again as your team continues to grow! :)

It looks like Nick Douglas, the personality who over the course of the past year became synonymous with the Silicon Valley gossip blog, won’t be reporting there any more.

Movember BeeyatchWell Movember is in full swing, and here’s the first iteration of my Mo… taken in Photobooth over at Workspace here in Vancouver. I’ve heard guys say “I’m a grower, not a shower.” I like to think I’m both.

Several other peeps are representin’. Check out awesome Mo’s by Brian LeRoux, Derek Miller, Dane Brown, and Robert Scales

Also pretty funny is the ‘Movember’ tag on Flickr. And here’s a link to NowPublic’s coverage of Movember.

Photobooth Pictures @ Workspace Comments Off

PeepsFor those of you who don't know, that lil white 'puter sitting on the bar at Workspace has an awesome app on it called Photobooth. It works with the onboard camera and you can take fun and silly pics of yourself and the peeps you see at Workspace. I'm currently working on a lil documentary project where I take at least one snap everytime I show up at the space. It's been fun and I have quite the collection going. If you do take some please tag them 'photobooth' and 'workspace' so we can find them on the internet. You can also submit them to the Workspace group on Flickr. I'm going to make a Qoop poster of them all my Workspace Photobooth self portraits and give it to Bill for Xmas. :)

Interestingness Is to Flickr As PageRank Is to Google Comments Off

The recursive nature of Flickr’s interestingness makes it analogous to Google’s PageRank–the complex site ranking system used by Google that ranks sites fundamentally using the PageRanks of the sites that provide links (“inbound links”) to the ranked sit

New JPG Magazine Photography Magazine Comments Off

I joined the new community website over at JPG Magazine. JPG Magazine was started by friends Derek Powazek and Heather Champ and has had close ties with Flickr since the beginning. They’re launched a cool new site with community features and I think it’s going to be a hit.

I submitted a couple photos for the upcoming issue.. please go check them out and voice for them. :) The website seems to be the first project of newly founded company 8020 publishing who is looking to ‘revamp the way magazines are published’. From their website:

The online world has created a culture of creation among ordinary people. Meanwhile, magazines are still partying like it’s 1899. Writers write, readers read, and never the twain shall meet.

Simply put, this can’t last.

Magazines need to open their doors to their readers. Instead of thinking of writers and readers as two separate communities, magazines need to realize that they really only have one community: the people who give a shit about their magazine.

Good stuff guys.
