This Is East Van

Summer is here in Canada. I’ve been spending lots of time fishing and gardening out on Galiano Island… but a big part of my heart (and my photography studio) still live at The Waldorf Hotel in East Vancouver, British Columbia Canada.

East Van is well known for it’s rich cultural heritage including a rich homegrown DIY arts and activism scene that’s taught me lots of what I know about the world. *points at Purple Thistle, Public Dreams, Culture Crawl, Tribal Harmonix*

TED x Oil Spill EXPEDITION: Headed to New Orleans & The Gulf of Mexico - Comments (7)

With a broken heart and fists clenched in anger I prepare to head on down to the Gulf of Mexico to document the US worst ever environmental tragedy. One that is getting worse and worse each day. Copied from my photography blog, here’s some of the details about the trip.

First MateCurrently the entire world has their eyes and ears glued to the media that is coming out of the Gulf of Mexico, depicting the travesty and devastation around the BP Oil Spill. This man-made natural disaster is slowly destroying the natural landscape and wildlife of the Gulf of Mexico as an underwater oil rig leaks thousands of crude oil into the open water.

TED Comes to Vancouver : Speaker Nominations for TEDxVan - Comments (10)

Pickup

TED is a great conference format that is focused on the theme of ‘ideas worth spreading’ in technology, entertainment and design. Showcasing the brightest and coolest minds our times, TED is an all around impressive event that videotapes all their speakers and puts the videos up for free on their TED talks list. They really stand behind their principles of sharing ideas, even if people are unable to attend the highly anticipated TED event.
